OLD POST OFFICE

T. J. Durling opened a store on Wanaque Avenue. He applied in 1900 to have the 'ost Office moved there. The application was approved. (Previously the Post Office was ocated in a store serving the Steel Works settlement in Pompton Lakes). Durling became the first Post Master, he also brought the telephone to town with the exchange in the Post Office store. The original building still stands; there have been some architectural changes.
