POMPTON LAKES RIVERDALE YOUTH ORGANIZATION

"With the Accent on Youth"

The Pompton Lakes Youth organization was founded and incorporated in March 1961 for the purpose of providing organized football and cheerleading to the youth of Pompton Lakes. Throughout the years PLYO has at various stages provided basketball and wrestling along with football and cheerleading.

In the early years the teams practiced and played their games at Hershfield Park. During the earl 70's Carlough Field became the home of the JR. Cardinals. Also during this period PLYO was granted permission from the North Jersey Junior Football League to include youth from neighboring Riverdale to participate in their program. In January 1991 PYLO changed its name to Pompton Lakes Riverdale Youth Organization.

Throughout the 80's and 90's the main focus has been football, wrestling, cheerleading and competition cheerleading. The program has grown considerably in the past 10 years, providing activities to over 300 children ranging in ages from 6 to 14.

At football games, wrestling, and cheering competitions are held against neighboring towns in Bergen, Passaic and Morris counties.

As a self supporting organization PLRYO has made enormous strides in the quality of equipment, field conditions and the level of competition provided. PLRYO has been a member of the North Jersey Junior Football League since being founded in 1961.

The current President and officers would like to thank all those who gave time and support in the past to build such a solid organization.
